AL SAQRAN Arabian Horse Stud’s star stallion Excalibur EA proved his class at the Dubai International Arabian Horse Championship (DIAHC) yet again when winning the event’s most coveted category for a second year running. The three day DIAHC at Dubai World Trade Centre was held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance and Industry, and with the support of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Excalibur EA, a 9yo grey, had been adjudged top Stallion at last year’s event and he repeated the feat by outclassing the rest of his rivals to win the category comfortably and defend his crown. Owned and bred by Al Saqran Arabian Horse Stud, Excalibur EA won the Gold Championship with a massive 25 points with Silver Champion AJ Kafu of Ajman Stud way back at 12 and Eden C taking the Bronze Champion title for Abdulwahab Saeed Al Sayed with eight. Mozn Al Bidayer, bred by Al Bidayer Stud and owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, dominated the corresponding Mares’ category as she swung the judges’ favour to her to win the Gold Championship with a score of 29 points with Ajman Stud yet again taking second place with AJ Tarim, who scored 12. A point adrift in third was Baviera HVP owned and bred by Abhaa Arabians. Dubai Arabian Horse Stud (DAHS) scored in the Colts (2-3yrs) with D Sheimaz scalping the Gold Championship with a score of 32 followed by Dr Ghanem Mohammed Obaid Al Hajri owned and bred Silver Champion Muthabahi Al Hawajer, who placed second with 14. In the Bronze spot, with half that score, was Admiraal of Ajman Stud. It was a second success for DAHS, who had picked up the Gold Champion title in the Yearling Colts category with D Shaheer, whose success was perhaps the most one sided of all categories as he won with 32 points, with Silver Champion Ghaly Al Hawajer back by a distance with just nine for Dr Al Hajri, and Arjuwan Al Bidayer taking Bronze for Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi with eight. Ajman Stud too had enjoyed a double on the final day of the competition when winning the Yearling Fillies and Fillies (2- 3yrs) categories. AJ Al Brraqah 5 was adjudicated Gold Champion in the Yearling Fillies event, only just managing to hold off DAHS’ D Sireen 20-18. Meanwhile, AJ Samara won them the Gold Championship in the Fillies (2- 3yrs) category when nailing the title with a score of 24 points. In second and third were D Judi and D Shihanah, both owned and bred by DAHS, with scores of 18 and 12 respectively.
