Ten Sovereigns found the luck he needed on the third time of asking in his 3yo season as he stormed to victory in the Group 1 July Cup Stakes sponsored by Darley at Newmarket yesterday.
Success in the 1200m contest saw him return to winning ways and he delivered a stunning performance to win on his third start this year.
Unbeaten in three starts as a 2yo, the now 3yo son of No Nay Never was fourth behind Advertise in the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot, but he avenged that defeat in style beating the Martyn Meade trained and Frankie Dettori ridden Advertise by two and three fourths of a length to win with a flying sprint down the middle.
Stablemate Fairyland took third a further three fourths of a length behind under Seamie Heffernan.
Glorious Journey set the pace early on after the field of 12 split in two groups. Advertise and Ten Sovereigns both raced in the Group close to the inner rail with Ten Sovereigns racing clear in the final furlong to win well.
