Mark Johnston and Frankie Dettori combined to land the Duchess Of Cambridge Stakes with the Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum owned Raffle Prize doing the job in style at Newmarket on Friday.
The 2yo Slade Power filly was comfortable throughout and travelled well under Dettori, who let her loose in the final furlong as she came home to win the 1200m contest with a time of 1:09.09, finishing a length and three quarters ahead of Daahyeh, trained by Roger Varian and ridden by David Egan. Godolphin’s Saeed bin Suroor schooled Final Song, ridden by Ryan Moore, was a further head behind in third.
It was a third straight success for Raffles Prize, a winner of the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, Dettori said: “She’s very smart and has improved since Ascot.
“She was giving weight to all the runners today and I thought it was an amazing performance.
“It’s a long way to go until next year, but she has a lot of scope. She’s a big filly, so I’m sure she’ll train on.”
