Desert Encounter landed the Group 3 L'Ormarins Queen's Plate Glorious Stakes by massively upsetting the odds at Goodwood on Friday.

Trained by David Simcock and ridden by Jamie Spencer, Desert Encounter, a 7yo Halling gelding, is owned by Abdullah Al Mansoori.

And he held his own under Spencer to beat red hot Mirage Dancer by a massive two and quarter lengths, after being switched wide and pushed hard to the front in the final furlong of the 2400m affair.

Baghdad was a further length and half behind in third.
