CALCULATIONS ARE crucial to winning endurance rides that are run as per the Bouthib rules and the team at Seeh Al Salam 2 Stables were spot on with their maths which saw Fahad Ali Hassan Mohammed ride to a comfortable victory in the HH The President of the United Arab Emirates Endurance Cup on Christmas Day.
Fahad won aboard Bronx in a time of five hours 48 minutes and 25 seconds (5:48.25) having gone about the 121.47km four loop ride at an average speed of 20.92kph. It was the rider’s first ever career success and he took victory in a major event by finishing 7m57s ahead of the rest, luck complementing the planning employed by his team and trainer Saeed Al Ketbi.
Fahad’s previous best finish was a third in the CEN 119km Al Tassera Ride for Private Stables in February 2019, but he was in no mood to let things slip as he found himself fourth at the end of the first loop spanning 38.7kms. Fahad was 5m27s behind leader Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, who rode SM Forever Lord for Endurance 66 Stables.
Sheikh Saeed held sway over the second loop as well, with Fahad managing to cut the deficit to the top to 2m32s over the course of the 30.8km second loop. A twist of fate carried Fahad to the top as Sheikh Saeed failed to complete the 31.9km third loop. And there was no change thereafter as he dominated the field over the next final 20.07km stage to win rather easily ahead of Emirati compatriot Ahmed Ali Al Marzooqi, who completed the ride aboard Arabec Rafik representing Hadaybit Asalem 2 Stables.
Al Marzooqi clocked 5:56.22, while third was another Emirati rider Mohammed Saif Al Farsi, who was timed at 6:13.51 on the back of HM Kaiser Dama owned by Al Maghaweer Stables. Four other rides were held as part of the festivities at Bouthib International Endurance Village in Al Khatim, Abu Dhabi, The Private Stables Ride over 100km was won by Uruguayan rider Andres Rivero who won aboard Al Ain Stables’ HC Anbar in a time of 3:56.38.
He was followed home by Emiratis Anan Aref Al Katheeri on Celebryta (4:04.05) and Ahmad Saleh Al Shehhi on Chevrolet R M (4:09.45). Argentine female ride Milena Mendez triumphed in the 100km Ladies Ride, winning aboard the M7 Endurance Stables owned Raiga in a time of 4:00.38.
Finishing second was Dutch rider Marijke Visser who rode Dohaa Demoi for Al Nasr 2, while third place went to Syria’s Zubaida Ali Sabti, who partnered Al Barari Stables’ Ainhoa Elsinea. Shahd Waleed Al Ahmed of Bahrain won the open 100km ride aboard Victorious Stables’ Elfik De La Fichade in 4:52.47, with Emirati Matar Saeed Al Kaabi taking second on Al Raood Stables’ Azaria D’Ardic and third place going to India’s Raj Singh, who rode Bairon Du Grandval for Al Maghaweer Stables.
