LARGE FOOTFALL is expected at this year’s Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), which runs from 25-30 September in the UAE capital. The event is in its 16th year and is being held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers Club. Staged at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), it is organised by Emirates Falconers Club and supported by The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), International Fund for Houbara Conservation, Department of Culture and Tourism and Cultural Programs and Heritage Festivals Committee.

Over 650 exhibitors and brands from 40 countries have set up stalls at the event and during the course of the five days, organisers are expecting a footfall of nearly 100,000. One of the major attractions of the exhibition is the sprawling 3600sq mt pavilion dedicated to the HH Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan Global Arabian Horse Flat Racing Festival, which is in its tenth year, to commemorate the occasion which coincides with the 100th centennial year of the birth of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE. One of the highlights of this year’s event is the ten horse sculpture dedicated to the ten highly active years of the Sheikh Mansoor Festival.

Visiting the pavilion on the first day were HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, who are one of the main sponsors of the Festival and HH Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. The present of the Sheikh Mansoor Festival at the exhibition is part of the ‘One World, 6 Continents: Abu Dhabi the capital’ initiative that seeks to promote flat racing for Purebred Arabians. Lara Sawaya, the Executive Director of the Sheikh Mansoor Festival, said: “We are pleased to have a huge presence at the 16th edition of ADIHEX, which is very important for us as we are celebrating the 10th year of the Festival. We expect a huge turnout in the next four days.”
