Godolphin Indulgent Stateside as City Plan also wins

GODOLPHIN enjoyed a couple of winners Stateside last week with Indulgent and City Plan claiming victory in their respective Grade Three and Listed outings. In what was her fifth start, at Aqueduct, Indulgent, trained by Kiaran McLaughlin, picked up her third win on the surface and first Graded Stakes victory when claiming the 78th running of the 1600m Grade 3 Go For Wand Handicap for 3yo+ fillies and mares. She broke well with Luis Saez aboard and stayed comfortably in second behind early leader Lucy N Ethel before moving to the fore with 400m left.

Indulgent then had to hold off a game challenge from Highway Star, who was eventually beaten into second by a length. Verve’s Tale was third a further half length behind. Saez said: “Last time, the rail was heavy and she broke from the inside and we couldn’t get out and that hurt a little bit. Today, she had an outside post and she broke pretty well. We came to the straight, I asked her and she took off.” City Plan won by a length too as he swept past his rivals en route to victory in the Listed 1600m Gold Rush Stakes at Golden Gate Fields.

The 2yo son of Street Sense remained at the rear after breaking but lengthened his stride coming into the stretch and swept past his rivals to win by a length from Ayacara, with Respect The Hustle settling in at third a further length and half adrift.
