MIRA JASIM AL ANSAARI turned out to be the toast of the endurance circuit last weekend as she made sure with absolute determination that the HH Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Endurance Cup for Ladies title remained within Emirates shores. Riding as an individual in the CEI 2-star 100km competition, Mira went about her business on the back of 9yo gelding Sarab consistently to reach the summit and once at the top of the leaderboard, she showed great resolve to snuff out the competition. She rode at an average speed of 26.40kph and completed the ride which had been broken down into four loops of 40, 25, 19 and 16kms in a total time of 3 hours 47 minutes and 14 seconds.

Foreign riders enjoyed much success in the event with Ireland’s Ellen Marie McAuley finishing second nearly three minutes clear on the back of Almendra JV. She improved in the second 25km phase to climb up three places into fifth at the halfway stage where Layla Mohammed Al Marzooqi held the initiative. Mira kept close to the top and remained very much in contention and as Sarab responded well to her lead doing as he was told. Mira lauded her horse’s performance at the end and added things becaem easier after she managed to correctly assess the pace of the race. “The competition was tough with the strong international line-up, but I managed to judge the race and my horse responded well,” said Mira, who was collecting what was her fifth career win.
